I'm writing this post quite quickly before I spend a week at a place where internet doesn't like to arrive.

You must be wondering...cats again? Well yes. I love photography but my family doesn't like being taken in photo so all I have left is my cat.

The Beach...

Yesterday I finally got a day off from work and went to the beach with family and friends.

We went to the beach in Hossegor and the weather was beautiful (too beautiful as you will see why).

So we first went to a nice restaurant close to the center of the town, before going to the beach.

As I said, the weather was wonderful ! Luckily we had sun umbrellas with us cause the sand in the sun was burning our feet.

I spent most of the day just relaxing or reading while watching the big waves in the distance...

The amount of pictures I took is quite limited but I took some lovely ones of the sunset:

So that was my day yesterday, and I had a great time even though I had to pay for that by getting a strong sun burn on my legs. My legs were very red yesterday evening so I covered them with natural yogurt (which normally always works) but it didn't help much. I then put on after-sun creme which also didn't do much.

When I woke up this morning, my legs felt better, they were still red but didn't hurt.....until I tried to stand up.

I was so shocked that I felt such a massive pain in the leg when trying to walk, or even just stand straight. My ankle was super swollen and I could walk maximum two steps. I took some medicine, and covered my legs with cremes and stuff, but I have to stay in bed all day; which means no work, and more time for blogging!

I know you might think I'm one of those lazy people who hate working, but the truth is that it's been now three weeks that I've been working in a restaurant without a day off. No weekend, no day off, nothing! So I'm just happy to be able to relax :)

Anyway, that is my life at the moment and I can't wait for the end of august to come! I will be getting a new camera: not a point-and-shoot one, but a proper canon eos 400d yay!

My aunt will be bringing it over with her, when she comes to visit us. She's a photographer (well, it's her hobby) so she knew where to get me a proper, second hand, but still in good condition camera.

That's when I also finish this summer job, and begin my studies, which means I might have more time to blog during weekends and evenings than I have now.

So be ready to see some better quality pictures and a lot of them!

Baking Muffins!

Hi everyone! Last Tuesday I made some muffins (well I tried) and I'm pretty happy with the result, since my my cooking skills are pretty low !

So, during this easy recipe (which I forgot what website I found it on and now can't show it to you so you're gonna have to guess it!), I took a few photos with my mobile.

The quality of these pictures is absolutely terrible (which is disappointing since it IS a blackberry), but I hope you still enjoy a trip to Baking Land with me =D.

Bonjour tout le monde! Mardi dernier j'avais fait des muffins tout simple (en tout cas j'ai essayé) et je suis assez contente du résultat. Surtout quand on prend en compte mes connaissances culinaires très pauvres.

J'ai oublié sur quel site j'ai trouvé cette recette, donc va falloir que vous la devinez!

Ainsi, pendant que je cuisinais, j'ai pris quelques photos de très basse qualité avec mon portable (qui est un blackberry donc cette qualité est très décevante pour un portable de ce genre).

Mais bon, j'espère que vous allez passer un bon moment avec moi dans le monde de la cuisine =D

Here was the step by step pictures that I took and since there wasn't much to say about them, I didn't bother writing anything.

At the end I added liquid chocolate on top if my muffins that hardens after a few hours and the result was delicious. The only problem (cause there's always something wrong that happens when I'm cooking), is that I mixed up baking powder with a french product that sounded the same but that wasn't. So my muffins are flat and look more like cookies; oh well, just gonna have to eat them ! =D

Voici donc les photos étape par étape que j'avais pris et comme y a pas grand chose a dire dessus, j'ai rien écrit.

A la fin j'ai ajouté du chocolat liquide qui durcit pour ajouter un peu de goût à mes muffins. Biensur, comme je fais toujours quelque chose de faux quand je cuisine, je me suis trompé dans un ingredient qui s'appelle "baking powder" et j'avais pris la levure voulangère mais c'est apparement pas la même chose. Du coup, mes muffins sont tout plat! Tanpis, faudra tous les manger alors =D!

Photoshop Quick Tips

If you have a point and shoot camera like me (especially if it's an inexpensive one) you'll need this tip for your photos!
This tip is a basic one that everyone in the world of photography knows, and might think boring to put in a post. But about a year or two ago, when I started using Photoshop, this tip was amazing in my eyes so I hope it will help all the new beginners.

So let's start: I was in Paris this weekend (I will soon post the photos) and while we were stuck in traffic, I saw this ad on the back of a bus: a Schweppes ad with Uma Thurman, one of my favourite actresses.
I loved the picture so I took the photo with my camera and thought it was good quality - till I uploaded it to my computer and was surprised at the lack of colour.

So here's what I did to it to make it look just that bit better:

1- Open the image in Photoshop

2-go to Image > adjustments > Brightness/Contrast

you'll see this: 

All you have to do is pull the brightness and contrast to the right, until is looks good. It is best to make the contrast stronger than the brightness.

3- go to Image > adjustments > Hue/Saturation

Pull the saturation to the right to give the picture a splash of colour.

4- Press Layer > Flatten Image
5- (Optional): To bring attention to Uma, I darkened the edge of the image with a photoshop action:

If you don't have this action, there is a way to do it but it would be too long to explain in this post, so you can look it up on internet.

And this is the result:

So that was it! It was very easy and only needs a couple of seconds but it does all the difference!

Simple Pictures (2)

Simple Pictures 2! is the new name I gave to these mini-series. It was called "Pretty Pictures" but I thought the new name would suit it better, since my pictures aren't all pretty!

So here they are (a lot of them are outside ones, since it's so sunny today!):

"Simple Pictures 2"! c'est le  nouveau nom de ma mini-serie d'images simples. Ca s'appelait "Pretty Pictures" au début, mais comme les images ne sont pas toutes belles, le nouveau nom est mieux.

Voici donc mes photos d'aujourd'hui (prises surtout dehors grâce au beau temps):

Photoshop Creations

Today I tried to make a landscape/image using multiple pictures and Photoshop.

It's the first time I did this, so it's nothing special!


Aujourd'hui j'ai essayé pour la première fois, de créer une image grâce à d'autres images et Photoshop.
C'est rien de spécial, mais ca m'a beaucoup plu de le faire!

Scavenger Hunt Sunday (2)

Hello everyone!

This is my second participation to scavenger hunt sunday! Now, unfortunately, since I forgot that it is today and since I really wanted to participate to this one before it's over, I haven't had time to take new, fresh photos. So these are older ones, that I picked for this occasion.

Bonjour à tous!

Aujourd'hui je participe pour la deuxième fois à scavenger hunt sunday. Malheureusement, j'utilise des photos prises il y a un moment déjà. Donc voici mes images!

I didn't have many yellow pictures, but candles always produce yellow light (well my ones do):

Je n'avais pas beaucoup d'images jaunes, mais les bougies (en tout cas les miennes) produisent toujours une lumière jaune:

I had nothing that was really ancient or antique, but I saw this very, very old camera one day:

Je n'ai rien qui soit très ancien ou antique, mais j'avais vu cet appareil photo un jour et il me semble très vieux =P

Splash! was one of the hardest to find. But luckily for me, I had some pictures from a day at the lake:

Splash! était une des plus dures à trouver dans mes photos. Mais heureusement j'en ai trouvé qui étaient prises pendant une journée au lac:

Et pour finir, après la pluie vient le soleil:

So, as I said: after rain comes the sun. And this little object has seen a lot of storms and rain. But he's still hanging in there,relaxing in the sun.

Donc, comme je l'ai dit: après la pluie vient le soleil (ou le beau temps?) et ce petit objet a vu le mauvais temps, ca c'est sûr! Mais il se repose tranquillement au soleil maintenant.

So that was it! It's the first time i write a post in two languages, English and French. What do you think? Should I continue? I started this because I notice it more and more that a lot of my viewers come from France.

Nutella!

Today I went and bought a special kind of gift for my friend's birthday who looooves nutella!

Before I wrapped it, I took some photos and here they are:

Today's post is just some simple photos of a few old fairy statues I found in my old toys.

I tested close-up shoots to see how they would come out, cause they are very small. Well, in the end each picture was taken at least five times cause my camera just didn't understand that there was something in front of him .

The quality is also a bit disappointing, due to the lack of light in the room.
But it was worth a try, and now I know that my little camera doesn't like taking very small objects in picture.
